Campaigns

SWOP NSW honour days of significance throughout the year – sometimes through events, and other times through education and resources. We also develop campaigns in response to advocacy priorities, government inquiries, and legislative change, as well as health campaigns that respond to emerging trends and the needs identified by our community.

While SWOP NSW is a NSW-based organisation, we engage with national advocacy and campaigns led by Scarlet Alliance.

Community engagement and feedback are central to how our campaigns are shaped and how they succeed. We work alongside our community and invite allies to stand with us in pushing for fairer laws, safer systems, and better outcomes for all.

WOULD MYCHECK ACTUALLY WORK FOR SEX WORKERS?

MyCheck is another way for eligible clients to access STI testing. Instead of going to a sexual health clinic for your screening, you can organise your testing by phone and go to a pathology collection centre to do the tests. It’s designed to make STI screenings easier, more convenient and more discreet. But would it actually work for sex workers? This is the bit we care about. A service can sound convenient on paper, but whether it works in real life depends on what access actually looks like.

So, we’re asking you. Swop NSW is working with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District to hear directly from sex workers about what they need from sexual health services like MyCheck. Your feedback will provide important insight for the development of sexual health services across NSW.

Take the anonymous MyCheck survey to have your say in what accessible STI testing should look like.
